For those looking to surf, the waves of Arugam Bay are the best, while if you want more adventure, the sand dunes of Panama are waiting to be explored. The Kumana National Park and Lahugala have a lot in store for the wildlife enthusiasts. But, if you want to get a glimpse of Sri Lanka’s rich past, Arugam Bay holds many treasures.


Arugam Bay is home to over 10 surf points. Its fantastic waves attract surfers from all over the world. Surfing points include:

  • Peanut Farm
  • Panama
  • Okanda

Although, it’s possible to surf all year around, the waves are best between April to October. The average height of the waves is between 1.5 and 2.5 meters.

We are just minutes away from the Arugam Bay Point, which is regarded as Sri Lanka’s best surfing point, and is also among the top 10 surf points in the world.

Get on your surfboard and get ready to jump in the waves, because Arugam Bay is the surfers’ paradise.

Arugam Bay also hosts international surf championships, namely, the Sri Lankan Airlines Pro 2010 – Arugam Bay Surf Competition and the British Pro Surf Association (BPSA) Champion of Champions Surf Contest.
